1.No need for people with 2 diopters to wear glasses when reading.

It is wrong for myopia sufferers whose strength is only two diopters or weaker to wear eyeglasses when they are reading books. It is learned from some ophthalmological centers that in recent days a peak of prescribing glasses appear in their centers. Even in some days, the amount of reception per day surpassed three thousand. However, the ophthalmologist find that a lot of myopia sufferers do not have a clear idea about how to choose a proper pair of prescription glasses and use it in a correct way in daily life.

The myopia glasses are usually used for seeing objects at least five meters far away.

A Dr. Green in the ophthalmologist centre said that he found lots of myopia sufferers always wear glasses, no matter they read books or look at sightseeing far away, and he emphasized that this doing cannot be adopted. Actually, for the myopia sufferers below two diopters, it’s no need wearing glasses when reading. “When we do optometry for our patients, we examine their sight state of seeing objects five meters away, so the prescription glasses are used for seeing far-away objects. It is wrong to use it within five meters.” Dr. Green said, “Especially when they read or watch computer screen, the distance is thirty-three millimeters more or less, so if they keep on wearing glasses to read or watch nearby objects, their myopia would probably strengthen.”

“The myopia sufferers below two diopters do not need to wear glasses at all when seeing nearby objects. For those above three diopters, if they actually cannot see objects nearby clearly, they can wear glasses but the strength of the glasses should be weaker than the prescription glasses according to the distance between people and objects.” another ophthalmologist said.

2.Children must have mydriasis test before wearing glasses

Nowadays, lots of glasses shops boast that they apply high and new technology in prescribing glasses, and adopt scientific instruments for optometry instead of doing optometry by manpower. A Dr.Hudson in the optometry and prescription centre remind us that, for adults, there are little difference between the result from the optometry by instrument and that by manpower, whole for children the case is totally different, especially for the kids below twelve years old. So they must have mydriasis test first and then do optometry for twice.

3. Some tips on selecting glasses

As to frame:

Examine its material. The good-quality material of frames is leveled-off. Even if you pucker it up, it won’t be rugged. What’s more, the electroplated surface is very smooth.

Check the elasticity. Bend the leg of the glasses slightly and see whether it can get back easily or not. If it cannot come back after being distorted, then you can judge it not so good.

Looking at the weld. A good frame must be equipped with proper screws and welds with no crack.

As to lens:

Listening to the sound. Throw the lens flatly and slightly onto a desk with a glass surface. If the sound of the clashing is crisp, then you can say it is made of super-flimsy material.

Turn the lens towards the rays. If there are air bubbles or impure things on it, then the lens is of bad quality.

The surface of lens. If the glistening color of the lens turns out to be purple-green or purple-yellow and the reflected objects on the lens are very clear, then the lens have a thin coating with the function of lessening reflection. Drop water on the surface of the lens. If the drops stand upward just like dewdrops on the leaves of lotus, then the lens must be armed with a defending coating.
